Does Anybody Remember Laughter?
In 1990, IRS Records Issued a Dread Zeppelin Promotional Cassette Sampler titled "Does Anybody Remember Laughter?" to help promote the upcoming release of their 2nd album "5,000,000* (Tortelvis fans can't be wrong).
To the casual observer, this might seem like an odd choice of words to name a cassette sampler to promote an upcoming release. However, to any hardcore Led Zeppelin fan, the joke is quite apparent.
What is the joke? The title, of course, was borrowed from Led Zeppelin's 1976 concert film "The Song Remains The Same" where a feverish, young Robert Plant ad lib's to the audience during the band's most seminal track, "Stairway To Heaven".
"...The Forests will echo with laughter...Does Anybody Remember Laughter?"
Years later this question was answered by Plant, when he gave Dread Zeppelin the stamp of approval and donned a DZ T-shirt for a cover shoot for UK Rock & Metal Magazine: KERRANG! If you are fortunate to come across this rare IRS promo cassette, make sure to hold on to it tight. Not many of these are in circulation due to low volume that were initially made. Looks out for edited versions of 2 new tracks from 5,000,000 including "Stairway to Heaven" and "Nobody's Fault (Butt Mon)".
