Jah Paul Jo AKA Joe Ramsey shares a brief recollection of a rare performance of Dread Zeppelin from 1995 covering "Dixie" in Las Vegas. (Originally posted to Birdcage Records Facebook page 2011)

This is the "No Quarter Pounder" band, either late 1994/early '95. David Raven - drums, Derf Nosna-Haj - bass, Fernandez - Conga, Put-mon - guitar, Jah Paul Jo - guitar and Tortelvis (on Vocals).

One of my favorite venues, the Blues and Reggae Club in Las Vegas on the old strip (next door to the "Howdy Cowboy"). We were playing two nights in a row and the second night decided to open with this instead of something a bit more well-known. I remember the crowd looking stunned... especially during the "Hush, little baby..." part. Ha ha... golden.

By the way, that's producer Rasta Li-Mon doing the introduction in the beginning. That's taken from a line in the movie "This Is Elvis" of something the real Charlie Haj would whisper to Elvis before all of his last performances... "Despite your age of (???), and obviously in poor health and way overweight..." Really!

We didn't play Dixie too often... maybe only two or three times. That's why it's so great that I have such a wonderful version preserved here. It always makes me chuckle... and I ain't just whistlin' Dixie!
